SDP/SI — Gearheads & Speed Reducers
SDP/SI provides a wide selection of ratios in both BuOrd (U.S. Bureau of Ordnance) and NEMA size gearheads and speed reducers to fit your application. We manufacture our gearheads and speed reducers to the highest exacting standards of craftsmanship.
The gearheads are attachable to BuOrd frame size servomotors without modifications to the input pinions and without complicated adapters. They are designed to be used in high-accuracy electromechanical systems. All gears are precision cut. The output gear and all stage pinions are made of hardened 416 Stainless Steel. Housings are black-anodized aluminum alloy and are precision bored for exacting center distances. The cantilever design combined with wide bearing span results in extremely low backlash.
Planetary gear and gearhead speed reducers that provide a high degree of position accuracy are also available. Our precision and economy planetary gearheads feature ratios from 3:1 to 700:1, standard NEMA sizes 17, 23, 34, and 42, inline, right angle and dual output styles. Spur gearheads, a low cost alternative to planetary gearheads are available in ratios from 3:1 to 100:1. If a standard unit design does not meet your expectations we can provide a custom design.

Ball & Lead Screws:
Power screws are a common means of translating rotary motion into linear motion. There are several different types, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages depending on the requirements of the application. Acme lead screws are defined by their thread profile, which is trapezoidal with a thread angle of 29°.
There are two immediate results of this difference in profile. It is much easier to machine, so Acme lead screws are much cheaper than square lead screws or ball screws. The second difference is a much larger area of contact between the screw and the nut. This has both advantages and disadvantages.

Products of Firecomms
Firecomms offers a range of fiber optic products, including:
OptoLock
OptoLock® plugless fiber optic transceivers provide instant termination of bare Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) to significantly quicken and simplify the connection of devices. The design of OptoLock, patented by Firecomms, enables the fiber to be cut and terminated to the exact required length on site for the fastest and simplest field installs.LC
The LC-terminated fiber optic connector standard, IEC 61754-20, has been expanded by the IEC beyond glass to include additional fibers. Firecomms family of LC transceivers will expand the use of this very popular form factor for use with POF and Plastic Clad Silica (PCS) cables. Because of this common form factor, users now will be able to utilize low-cost cable assemblies for shorter run lengths, while retaining the option for smaller core glass fibers for those extra long runs.RedLink
RedLink™ is Firecomms’ answer to fiber optic transceivers compatible with the widely available Versatile Link range of connectors. Commonly used in the industrial control, transportation, medical and machine automation markets, the RedLink range of transceivers are deigned to operate at DC and data rates up to 50 MBd.Cable Assemblies
Firecomms cable assemblies complete the offering by providing every flexibility in choosing the right cable solution fitting to the requirements of the install. Provided in the offering are all the components to self assemble the cable, or to choose from one of Firecomms’ standard length pre-finished cable assemblies. In special cases we’ll even consider customizing POF or PCS cable assemblies to order.
